Job Description
Our client offers world-class services enhancing the safety, integrity, reliability and performance of our clients' assets in the oil & gas industry. They are now looking to fill the following vacancy -.
SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER (Staff/Contract, Berkshire)
The successful candidate will work within both the expanding engineering and structural integrity management (SIM) teams, the latter being one of two SIM Competency Centres worldwide within group. The engineering team is involved in design and verification activities, whilst the SIM team, which has built up an industry wide reputation, has a wide range of SIM work, including several long term SIM contracts with major international oil and gas companies. Most of their work in both teams relates to fixed platforms but the teams are becoming increasingly involved in semi-submersibles.
Person Specification
To be successful in this role, and our clients' business, you will need to demonstrate the following qualification, professional expertise and personal attributes.
Technical / Professional Expertise
BSc in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Ideally chartered or working towards chartership
Competency Requirements:
Competency in at least three of the following fields:
Structural design and analysis of offshore structures with detailed knowledge of design codes and design guidance and the ability to solve demanding technical problems to demonstrate structural integrity.
The use of structural analysis software (e.g. ASAS, SACS, ANSYS, ABAQUS, SESAM, USFOS) for linear and nonlinear global analysis and detailed analysis of structural components.
Fracture mechanics and risk based inspection
Structural integrity management for existing structures, involving structural reassessment, jacket and topsides (risk based) inspection planning, methods of inspection and inspection procedures.
Design verification combining independent assessment, review of fabrication drawings and detailed review of design reports.
