Job Description

My client is a global operator and on of the leading oil producers offshore Qatar. They are currently looking for a Senior Structural Engineer with SACS experience.

The Senior Structural Engineer shall contribute to the common objectives of the Topside Structural engineering, namely:
Define concepts and develop engineering designs for brown field modifications to existing facilities.
Act as project engineer for assigned brown field projects.
Provide support and trouble shooting assistance to the production and maintenance departments.
Develop tie-in of new facilities within FDPs to ensure Structural Integrity and safe operation of the platforms.
Participate in guidance and development of the remaining members of the Topside Structural engineering group.
Through these activities the senior structural engineer contributes to the ultimate objective of producing oil in a safe manner, at the planned rate without unscheduled interruptions.

Principal Accountabilities
General Duties:
In the execution of your work the senior structural engineer shall:
Comply with applicable safety instructions and other Company procedures, both onshore and offshore.
Ensure that in all matters safety, economical and technical assessments are made, due diligence is observed and initiative taken to secure the best economical results.
Ensure that all information, both written and spoken, obtained in the course of the work is handled with confidentiality.
Ensure that the work is carried out in a professional manner and in compliance with applicable contracts, Company policies, values and relevant laws and regulations.
Actively monitor work progress such that risks and problem areas are identified, reported and solutions identified.
Plan and execute assigned projects and tasks.
Bring forward suggestions for improvements in time and cost within the areas of responsibility.
Identify areas of technical innovation that can improve Company safety, profitability or reliability.
Undertake any other work and responsibilities as per separate instruction.

Specific Duties:
Duties shall furthermore include the following:
Be familiar with current versions of applicable codes, standards and design guidelines
Provide structural specifications as part of the design of modification and other projects
Review design drawings and other technical documents to ensure compliance with applicable requirements and design objectives
Manage structural part of projects related to modification and upgrade of the offshore facilities
Liaise with design staff as and when required to ensure efficient resolution to any issues identified during the design work
Prepare timely response to technical queries from vendors and contractors and from other Company departments
Participate in testing and inspection activities at vendor facilities
Supervise offshore structural construction work and ensure that any outstanding work is recorded and corrective actions undertaken
Liaise with other Company staff for coordination of design and other activities
Attend meetings as and when required
Report progress and problem areas related to the execution of the work and make your superior aware of issues that may affect technical issues, schedules or cost
Prepare response to technical queries from vendors and contractors and from other Company departments.
Perform periodic offshore inspection visits in relation to the design of offshore modifications and tie-in of new facilities.

Education and Experience
University degree in structural engineering or similar education or experience.
Minimum 5-8 years of working experience with Offshore Structures.

Capable of working in an international and multicultural environment
Have a sound knowledge and understanding of:
SACS Structural Analysis Computer System
Static behavior of structures
Design in accordance with API RP 2A-WSD
Design in accordance with AISC Specification for the design, fabrication and erection of structural steel buildings
Good general computer skills
