My client is a leader in the subsea oil and gas industry. They are currently seeking Senior and Principal Controls Engineers to be based in their Aberdeen offices on either a staff or contract basis.
Role: In preparation for the commencement of substantial new projects during the Spring and Summer of 2010, the UK Engineering Group is now seeking to attract experienced candidates with Subsea commissioning and construction experience to increase our existing talent bank.

The Senior/Principal Controls Engineer will ensure all controls equipment remains fit-for-purpose. Working within a multidiscipline engineering design team and reporting to the Engineering Manager responsibilities will include:
Take ownership for the continuous development of personal and technical expertise and knowledge.
Flexible and able to undertake additional duties commensurate with the overall responsibilities of the job, and that are within their competence, when required.
Accountable for performing all duties with due regard to the health and safety of self and others and of the environment in which they are undertaken.
Develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of the diverse control systems used to maintain production operations for subsea assets.
Assess the technical specification and fitness-for-purpose of the subsea controls equipment
Provide specialist input to design plans for subsea controls equipment; encompassing umbilicals, jumpers, power and signal cables, HPU's and EPU's.
Plan and supervise offshore diagnostics testing and installation attending offshore worksites as appropriate.
Provide a controls interface between company and 3rd party equipment suppliers
Write engineering reports, prepare schedules and develop cost estimates.
Provide specialist controls system technical support at risk assessments.
Review spares holding for completeness and suitability.
Preparation of technical specifications
Technical liaison and monitoring of sub contractors

Ensuring compliance with project specifications
Ensuring all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed
Preparation of design and installation specifications
Preparation of manuals and procedures

Qualifications and Education
University education relevant to the role.
Experience: Demonstrable experience of team leadership and working within large multidiscipline teams
Experienced in PLC and ideally SCADA controls
Experience of formal engineering and design control processes
Experience in MS Project advantageous
Location Mobility: Will need to be able to travel overseas, occasionally, for package interface management
