Job Description
Our Client has a vacancy for a Senior Piping Engineer, based in Aberdeen. This is a contract position.
As Senior Piping Engineer, you will be responsible for the safe delivery of the Pipefitting work-scope within an offshore environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Responsible for design, specification and services related to piping systems and piping layout including piping material selection, piping material line classes, standard and specialty piping components, pressure, and piping support systems.
Specialist experience shall encompass all types of piping's systems, design and construction standards and codes of practice.
Experience in all tools associated with Engineering Design including PDMS, Autocad etc piping isometrics, pipe support design.
Under general supervision, performs all conventional aspects of the functional area subject matter.
Devises new approaches to problems encountered.
Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers.
Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Organise and carry out offshore surveys including development of survey scope of work, survey reports and supervision of third party survey teams.
The main objectives of the Senior Piping Engineer are:
Provide detailed engineering input during all design phases, including interpretation and challenge of standards.
Actively communicate with other disciplines to optimise areas of interface, during the design development, review and check processes.
Support design/drawing office personal with specialist engineering input.
Skills/Qualifications required for this position:
Degree in piping/mechanical engineering.
Experience in oil and gas engineering; engineering design reviewing plans and cost reports and managing design contracts.
Good oral and written communication essential, interface with the client technical authority.
Able to coordinate a small number of piping engineers and designers.
Must be familiar with relevant codes, design specifications and procedures and have a thorough working knowledge of the latest design and analytical techniques.
Proven experience in oil and gas engineering; and engineering design company specifically Brown Field Projects, Offshore Surveys etc.
Degree in piping/mechanical engineering.
