JOB TITLE: Senior Petroleum / Reservoir Engineer

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

JOB SUMMARY

Provides petroleum and reservoir engineering expertise to team members in the region for evaluating company operated and non-operated properties and new venture projects in such a way to maintain and increase company profits. Determines recoverable reserves for the region using various analytical methods, ensures joint venture operations are exploring and developing properties to obtain maximum reserves, maintain the reserve data base system for the region and perform revisions or changes when required. Performs all economics for the region using PEEP, the economic standard and directs, approves, and performs economics for the annual budget and five-year plan.

MAJOR DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs technical audits; in conjunction with geologists and geophysicists, of production KUFPEC currently has an interest to assure maximum profit and recoverable reserves.

• Reviews and approves all economics for the annual budget and five-year plan submitted to the division from the country offices and also performs economics if required.

• Maintains and approves the reserves for the reserve data base system in the division and perform reserve audits periodically in the division.

• Represents KUFPEC at Technical Committee meetings and new venture opportunities.

• Liaises and coordinates with other KUFPEC departments such as Corporate Planning, New Ventures, and Finance.

• Trains and develops junior engineers in region.

• Keeps abreast of new technology.

• Performs other special projects for the division and company when required.

WORK CONTACTS:

DIVISION MANAGER (INSIDE OR OUTSIDE COMPANY)

REPRESENTATION/NEGOTIATION: Internally contacts will involve participation in planning and strategic activites. Externally contract discussions and decision making at authorized levels. Contacts are likely to involve participation in local or regional industry conferences or working parties as a representative of the individual organization or K Group

INDEPENDENCE OF OPERATION:

ADVANCED PROFESSIONAL AND/OR MANAGERIAL: Activities at the managerial or advisory level which would involve management of a single functional area such as Operations or provision of professional advice and services across the organization (Division Level)

INNOVATIVE: Frequently changing circumstances where creative solutions of a managerial or technical nature need to be found. Decision Maker will rely on a significant level of professional job knowledge in reasoning solutions against unclear precedents

BROAD POLICIES: Broad policy guidelines on results to be achieved. Will determine most effective approach to the work, identify required resources and agree with Manager timetables and anticipated results. Will have some delegated authority, but this is unlikely to be financial in nature. Typical of senior professional jobs, generally non-supervisory.

VERY HEAVY: Impact at a divisional level which could spread across functional boundaries. Likely that such losses will be as a result of shared decision making

Academic:

BSC Degree in Petroleum Engineering
