Job Description
Our client requires a Senior Material & Corrosion Engineer for a position based in Kazakhstan. This is being offered in a 12 month contract with the start date being ASAP. Please note you must be flexible to travel aboard if necessary.
Main Duties
* Providing support to the Engineering contractor(s), in implementing, through their execution, the metallurgy (with requirements related to Sour Services and Low temperature Requirements) and welding requirement for the surface facilities and the pipeline network verifying that appropriate and consistent procedures, qualifications and material selection are applied by execution contractors.
* Liaising with the material engineers of the construction contractor to ensure a common approach in material and Welding requirements.
* Managing and supporting approval of site design changes originated by construction/installation reasons.
* Verifying and managing the interface engineering of the packages designed by the different Contractors.
* Ensuring that all Technical Queries (TQs0 and site Queries (SQs) related to materials and metallurgy are timely resolved and properly managed.
* Supporting the site Engineering Coordinator in processing, from the Metallurgy technical point of view, the Concession Request (CRs), Project Changes Notices (PCNs) and Claims.
* Assisting the client's Commissioning Team to achieve the project technical requirements.
* Verifying the completeness and correctness of the ''as built drawing'' and manage all the final project documentation to ensure the ultimate handover to the client's operation.
* Ensuring the development of local capabilities and provide on-job training of the assigned resources.
* Liaising with independent verification and inspection bodies, validation, and construction installation and commissioning.
* Actively participating in multidiscipline work task groups for engineering review of contractor deliverable and ensure implementation of corrective actions.
* Maintaining effective communications and good relations with contractor counterparts to ensure engineering activities are completed in accordance with the Project Execution Plan.
Qualifications & Experience
* A degree in Material Science and Welding Technology
* Minimum 10 years experience in Metallurgy and Welding Technology in Oil and Gas industry
* Good Experience in Integrity Management and Engineering Criticality Assessment (ECA)
* Experience in material selection in detail design activity
* Good knowledge of cathodic Protection, Coating and Painting
* Professional competencies acquired in performing/supervising engineering in O&G projects
* Proven organisational ability in a multi - interface and technically demanding project
