Description:
Primary role is to design industrial infrastructure and earthworks projects using three dimensional modelling software and draft civil drawings using Microstation. Typical projects include above ground pipeline corridor and haul road plan/profiles, plant site grading and undergrounds, earth dams, hydraulic structures and mine dewatering systems.
Responsibilities:
• Designs industrial infrastructure and earthworks using In Roads three dimensional modelling software and draft civil drawings
• Designs and detailing for new components from previous designs based on engineering scope of work, government and regulatory codes
• Conducts field surveys and preparing as-built drawings
• Prepares design specifications, drawings, models and related calculations
• Provides mentorship and guidance to designers/drafters
• Interfaces with team members, other discipline members and customer
• Coordinates work between field and office
Requirements:
• Technical school diploma in a related field with 10 years of related design experience within a mine or a large-scale petro-chemical plant setting
• Experience using Microstation and/or AutoCAD
• Experience using civil three dimensional modelling software (InRoads, Land Desk Development, Eagle Point)
• Successful candidates will be self-starters with an aptitude for problem solving, the ability to work independently or as a member of a team
• Candidates must bring strong and effective leadership skills to this role and be capable of managing a team within a major project
Reporting and Location
• The position reports to the Civil/Structural Department Head
• This position is located in the Edmonton, Alberta office but travel to Fort McMurray may be required
