Post: SENIOR TECHNOLOGIST
ROLE SUMMARY
* To develop solutions to process problems in a range of sectors within the global chemical industry.
* To support sales in understanding the requirements of the client and to develop a commercially viable solution to satisfy the technical challenge presented by the client.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* To meet HSE requirements.
* To develop the conceptual design of process solutions.
* To assist in the development of process control strategies.
* To assist in the development of the detailed design of the process solution.
* To assist the mechanical and electrical assembly - especially with respect to layout, maintenance and operability.
* To assist in the pre-commissioning of the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation systems to achieve mechanical completion.
* To process-commission equipment.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
* Customer feedback.
* Staff appraisal.
* Keeping within agreed budget.
* Keeping within agreed time scales.
* Effectiveness in attracting new clients by the value offering (but without under-pricing).
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
* First degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
* Several years' experience of developing and operating a range of chemical process equipment.
* Affiliate/Associate Membership of I Chem E (or working towards).
PARTICULAR KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and COMPETENCIES
Knowledge
* Chemistry and chemical processes.
* Chemical research equipment.
* Familiarity with problem areas on process equipment.
* Understanding of advantages and disadvantages of the several control / measurement principles.
* Practical solutions.
* Properties and limitations of a wide range of process equipment.
Skills
* Application of practical knowledge.
* Commissioning of process and control equipment.
* Some programming.
* Production of CAD drawings and sketches.
Competencies
* Commissioning.
