Job Description
Quality Engineer -
Provides a local focal point for all delegated Project Quality matters and to act as the Project Quality function to specific projects assigned.
Prepare and issue for use Project Quality Plans which meet the expectations and needs of the Project and the overall business operational and quality needs.
In conjunction with the Project Engineer compile & issue ITPs to meet the project specific & contractual needs.
Support Project Managers in the review and development of management systems and in the application of formal controls to ensure system document approval trace-ability and effectiveness.
Liaise with Customer and any Third Party Quality representatives in pursuance of and compliance with contractual obligations.
Conduct and report on internal audits in accordance with an approved audit schedule and issue PINs & NCRs if any resulting from these.
Conduct ad hoc audits or investigations into particular quality problems so that root causes are identified and effective corrective and preventive measures are put in place within the Company Management System.
Assist with evaluation and approval of potential suppliers prior to their addition to the Approved Vendor List AVL in order to maintain a supply base capable of supporting Suboceans quality objectives.
Conduct audits of suppliers as required and/or to investigate particular quality problems to achieve the above requirement.
Provide guidance general support and awareness training to all managers and supervisors and others in the operation maintenance and continual improvement of the companys Quality Management System.
Assist in the maintenance and revision as required of Companys processes and procedures relating to Quality Assurance core capabilities.
Assist with provision of periodic reports on the Quality Management System performance indicators and trends.
Provision of direction guidance support and development of a Quality culture in other departments inclusive of the training of site staff on the Quality System and objectives.
As necessary perform other duties requiring essentially the same level of skill & responsibility.
Review bid documents and specifications with a view to identifying core quality activities and requirements.
Promote quality behaviour within the organisation and facilitate a change culture.
Review and report product quality NCRs & system failures to aid drive continual improvements and reduce failure costs.
Seek introduce and adopt best practise solutions within our Business activities.
To deputise on occasion for the Quality Manager in her absence.
Experience and qualifications the incumbent should:
An engineering / technical subject pass to HNC/HND level or equivalent.
Lead Assessors Course with examination pass recognised by IRCA#
A recognised Quality Assurance or Quality Management qualification.
Formal training & audit experience in the new ISO 9001:2008 would be advantageous.
Would be beneficial if candidate held an offshore survival & medical certificate
Experience:
Project Quality involvement and experience essential
Familiar with ISO 9001:2008 requirements
Project quality planning knowledge essential
Preferably have some experience of subsea cabling activities including trenching installation and burial
Ability to motivate and train personnel in all aspects of the Quality role & management system
Knowledge and experience of internal and external supplier audits
Background and experience in closely related industry or position in a technical role#s ideally in a Quality responsible function with similar responsibilities as described herein.
