Our client is offering experienced Production Chemists the opportunity to join the Petroleum Engineering department to develop conformance control solutions for extended reach horizontal wells. The successful candidate will be part of a small group of experienced Drilling and Petroleum Engineers responsible for developing enhanced capabilities in this area.

Client Oil Qatar AS is as operator of a major offshore field the leading oil producer offshore Qatar. The current ongoing project FDP 2005 is one of the largest oil projects in the world with capital investments of more than 6 billion USD. The project comprises drilling of more than 160 additional production and water injection wells. The current oil production from the Field is approx. 300000 barrels/day.

The vacant Production Chemistry Role

  • Your role will comprise one or more of the following tasks:
  • To provide Production Chemistry expertise in the continuing development of a number of proprietary chemical methods to shut off zones in extended reach horizontal wells.
  • To optimse reservoir stimulation practices in use in Client Oil Qatar AS in cooperation with Drilling and Production Technology departments.
  • To provide input into corrosion studies and material selection studies for future development plans which include hydrocarbon and CO2 WAG operations.
  • To be an active team player providing creative and innovative input into ongoing conformance technology screening studies. Mechanical as well as chemical methods are under consideration.
  • To manage one or more projects with external service providers conducting applied research as well as development services in the area of conformance control technology.
  • Training and coaching of less experienced staff.

Your Qualifications

  • B.Sc. Engineering or higher degree.
  • Minimum 10 years relevant experience in Production Chemistry with a leading Service Company or an Operator preferred.
  • An effective team player with strong theoretical and operational skills in production chemistry with an emphasis on well treatment technologies.
  • Operational experience with well treatments stimulation shut-offs scale squeezes etc..
  • Experience with carbonate reservoirs.
  • Candidates with experience in new technology development including field implementation will be preferred.
  • Some experience in project management.
  • Fluent in English written and spoken.
