An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Principal Structural Designer to join a well-respected multinational EPC. Based in London they are recognised as one of the leaders within their field. Specialising in multi billion dollar projects across the world they have a highly skilled multicultural workforce who deliver high value Oil and Gas projects for some of the worlds biggest operators. The Principal Structural Designer will be based out of the EPC Design Offices in Paddington London on a staff Basis. The role will provide technical leadership in the preparation of CAD drawings in accordance with contractual requirements and procedures and standards. The Principal Structural Designer will also prepare and check CAD models and drawings and estimate progress of design and manage a manhour budget on a project. The ideal candidate will have worked in a contractors design office in the offshore industry. This may include jackets topsides floating or subsea structures. Previous experience with a steel fabricator or in a construction yard would also be beneficial. The selected candidate must have experience of PDMS design and draft version 11.6 or later and a recent version of AutoCAD. Have previous experience of leading teams of structural designers. Be able to estimate manhours for new projects and demonstrate an ability to plan deliverable output in a logical manner. Have experience of other technical/non technical software e.g. MS Office including Excel Word and Lotus Notes would be advantageous. Additionally an ability to write macros for PDMS and to prepare and upload new catalogue items is desirable but not essential. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK without restriction.
