Qualifications/Training Essential:
• HNC or equivalent in appropriate engineering subject
Experience Essential:
• Experienced senior designer with sound technical background and in depth knowledge of CAD draughting techniques
• Conversant with codes of practice, standards and relevant sections of statutory documentation applicable to draughting function
• Familiar with and competent in planning, progress monitoring, forecasting and reporting for draughting function
• Experienced in the supervision of discipline designers and draughtspersons
• Able to estimate man-hours and materials for delegated aspects of work
• Able to liaise with project / lead engineers at all levels
• Computer literate (database / spreadsheets)
• Conversant with company and client draughting standards and specifications
• Conversant with company quality control assurance requirements applicable to draughting function
Purpose / Role
• Execute Plant Layout and Piping discipline design and draughting activities within budget and schedule.
Key aims and objectives
• Execute design and draughting activities (Concept, Front End Engineering Development, Technical Study & Detailed Design)
Prime responsibilities and duties
• Achieve safety standards as defined in personal performance contract.
• Be responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance.
• Prepare Plant Layout and Piping drawings and design deliverables to the required technical quality with minimum input from engineering personnel.
• Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process.
• Maintain DO planning control on all scopes for a given Asset.
• Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Standards and procedures.
• Provide technical assistance to discipline assigned personnel as required.
• Ensure, as far as is practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and schedule.
• Keep up to date with technical developments, National and International standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline scope.
• Review and check work output of discipline assigned personnel as required.
• Prepare DO estimates and schedules and assist in their review.
• Maintain good communication with the client.
• Maintain the discipline filing system.
• Encourage and provide lateral learning within the project.
Allied occasional duties
• Carry out site visits as necessary.
• Assist the Lead Engineer and others when requested in the execution of their responsibilities and duties.
• Assist in training and mentoring of junior personnel as required.
