Based in Aberdeen our client is a major international oil company currently looking to recruit a Piping Engineer.

The Piping Engineer provides advice and support on engineering issues related to Piping Valves and Vessels within the context of the Basic Engineering Contract.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:

Plan detailed methods of solving assigned problems
Delegate components to designers and draftsmen see the work through to meet schedules and coordinate assignments with other disciplines
Give technical direction to purchasing construction and installation activities
Confer as required with other senior engineers and management as well as contractors consultants and suppliers

Ensure design compliance with Company Specifications
Liaise with Corporate head office when needed
Participate in technical reviews HAZOPS
Be the Project focal point for the Piping Valve and Vessel discipline
Become familiar with and involved in the implementation of the corporate QA plan
Act as client representative

Function as project engineer on smaller projects
Prepare design notes calculations specifications data books and technical documents
Verify correct modify and authorise technical documents and drawings Examples include but not limited to: review & develop project specifications; review P&IDs review and stamp line lists isometrics plot plans alignment sheets and ensure compliance with client specifications company standards and relevant codes and standards

Verify the Scope of Work for Piping activities to enable Construction team to perform tasks accurately
Prepare verify validate and review piping classes and pipeline specifications
Verify and validate Material Take-Offs and documentation necessary to request quotes and procurement of materials and assist in the estimating process
Verify and validate specialty item specifications and datasheets
Evaluate vendor bids and review vendor data
Instruct designers draftspersons and secretaries in the preparation of process technical documents and drawings

Assist in technical input into start-up and commissioning of designed facilities
Perform and verify stress analysis of above and below ground piping systems to B31.3
Control the overall stress analysis and critical line list for a project
Evaluate alternate processes and determine the optimum process for each application
Ensure that qualified personnel properly check work deliverables

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
Piping and / or pipeline experience
Good working knowledge of ASME B31.3 ASME B31.4 and ASME B31.8 CAESAR software
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Sound experience in welding and metallurgy
