PLANNING ANALYST CORPORATE BUDGETING / REPORTING

Location: Qatar

Role Summary:

* At this level, which reports to Unit management level, there will be a need to have a good knowledge of accounting conceptual skills coupled with Analytical skills and the urges to know additional financial implications in business activities of the Company and its regulatory (IAS/IFRS) and integrated accounting structures (good knowledge in SAP FI/CO/JVA and other planning modules in SAP / Non SAP softwares). The job holder will be an experienced (6-7years), professionally qualified (CA/CPA/CMA, Masters in Commerce), accountant able to provide professional advice and guidance on unit specific financial (asset accounting, depreciation UOP, SLM, WDV, Revenue, Royalty, volume and non volume related costs, financing and expenses), accounting (Fundamentals of accrual accounting, prepayments, treatment of various types of revenues, costs and adjustments), management accounting (Profitability, Variable and Fixed Opex, Cost allocations, cost recovery, facitliy sharing, sharing of Capex/Opex, amortization principles and accounting treatment), tax (applicable taxation rules per JVA/DFA and Qatar Tax Laws), treasury (Financing, Loans, drawdown, repayment, Redemption of shares, Dividend, Reserves), forward planning of the financial position of cost or profit centers, legal entities and the economic analysis and related issues; demonstrating a sound understanding of the underlying principles (accounting IAS, financial reporting IFRS), concepts (Accounting, Finacial Ratios, Joint venture accounting, Corporate accounting, Budget Planning and Economic analysis) and standards (IAS/IFRS/US/UK GAAP interpretations and its applications to the venture accounting). The job holders role will be concerned with the collection, analysis (Analysis of Financial statements of P&L, BS,CF, SCE, Volumetric data and variance analysis of financial performance of various business units and the related areas of revenue, costs, expenses including ratio analysis interpretation and wordsmiting) and presentation of financial data (through written reports, power point presentations, actual presentations to the Unit, Middle, Senior Management), both internally and externally (presentation and interaction with Shareholder Finance Representatives in writing and verbal and effective communication skills through analysis of criteria, condition, cause, risk and risk mitigating suggestions to improve the condition). Supervision and reference will be available from Unit management but independent decision making (application of IAS/IFRS, JVA, DFA terms and compliance with other regulatory requirement and translation of these standards and agreement requirements into financial concepts and accounting journals to reflect and develop a financial model, forward estimates and planning models using adaptive planning or other SAP/Non SAP planning tools) within clearly defined boundaries is expected.

Key Accountabilities

Performance Measures

Independent Operator:

* Operate independently to research (changes in IAS/ IFRS), collate (data collection, analysis, data flow, impact analysis), process, input and analyse the more complex (Adaptive Planning models, JVA/ SAP/ Non SAP model development from conepts and standards, economic models) and sensitive financial and accounting data (understanding of and compliance with Firewall concepts, policies and implementation of effective planning and reporting tools) to facilitate financial transactions and the proper recording of information (Accounting of transactions, Planning concepts, economic analysis). Determine what information is required and where the most reliable source resides (clear and concise understanding of FI/CO/JVA objects, inter relationship, data base, cost flow, financial impact).

Information Exchange:

* Interface with internal (inter departmental, inter group, business management, middle and senior management) and external (Shareholders, Financial institutions, Credit Rating agencies, Prospective Clients, budgets and forward cost / revenue estimates) clients to obtain/provide the more complex (Cost benefit, costs, revenue, financial ratio and its interpretations, economic analysis, forward planning) and sensitive financially relevant information (Profitability, margin, Tax, POB, Tax Holidays, Deferred Tax, Consolidated company financial position)or advice and interpret financial documents as required.

Financial Report Preparation:

* Prepare and produce Company-wide and external reports and position papers presenting a range of options and recommendations for consideration by Unit Head, and dealing with external contacts to resolve queries and problems.(P&L, BS, CF, SCE, Volumetric, Financial Ratios, Analytical notes, variance explanations, Senior Management Consolidation reporting)

Regulatory and Control Compliance:

* Interpret and ensure objective-driven application of all Company regulations and controls in the discharge of responsibilities and that work is error-free in order that system integrity is maintained (JVA, DFA, Tax, IAS,IFRS, Adaptive Planning, Economic models).

Systems Improvement:

* Provide input for the development of financial systems (SAP/JVA/ BW/ Non SAP Financial Models, Adaptive Planning Models development / Maintenance) and procedures (Development of P&Ps, Manuals) that improve unit effectiveness and monitor day-to-day performance to identify and provide recommendations on areas for possible further enhancement or improvement.

Project Participation:

* Participate in higher level specific projects (SAP implementation / system definition, BW business requirement, Adaptive Planning system definition, testing, project planning, resources allocation) within set terms of reference and defined processes to assist senior colleagues in the preparation of internal and external financial reports.

* Provide input and advice on pre-contract commercial evaluations, tax compliance considerations and interface with third parties on guarantee administration.

Problem Solving:

* Typically, role holders will work on the more complex and sensitive tasks, solving operational problems (business, financial and non financial, economic, accounting, business planning management) using precedent and own professional knowledge in compliance with set accounting principles.

* Role holders will work in a well defined regulatory and control oriented environment and be expected to exercise independent decision making within clearly defined boundaries.

Supervision:

* Has a fair degree of freedom in planning and delivering required outputs with supervision and reference available from Unit management. Review and checking takes place on a regular basis.(Analysts and National Graduates development)

Knowledge and Skills

* At this level, role holders will be expected to have a professional knowledge of Company finance, planning and economic procedures, particularly as they apply within their allocated unit, a high order of written and spoken English, the ability to communicate highly effectively and have good PC skills, including working knowledge of business software programmes, networking and SAP. (Soft Skills, Professional skills, Business Modelling skills, Negotiation skills, Supervisory skills, Financial & Accounting Application skills, SAP accounting skills are preferred)

* It will be also expected that supervisory potential will emerge at this level.

Education and Experience:

* Graduate Degree in Accounting or Commerce plus CA/CPA/CMA. They will also be required to have developed of professionally gained increased knowledge and expertise through a minimum of 6/7 years directly related experience.
