Job Description

REPORTS TO:

Production Manager.

COORDINATES:

Pipe and Mechanical Departments

OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB:

To ensure that Supervisors are competently and effectively carrying out their duties in order to meet schedules and milestones set.

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of schedules in conjunction with Supervisors.

Responsible for the preparation of material take-offs and build planning.

Responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of adequate stock levels.

Ensuring correct construction procedures are adhered to in compliance with Quality Assurance

Standards

Responsible for sourcing and distributing information to Supervisors.

Responsible for liaising with and directing outside contractors.

Accountable for monitoring resource levels and the distribution of these resources.

Assisting with maintaining safe working practices and good housekeeping in all areas and ensuring

safety policies and regulations are followed.

Accountable for ensuring that all supervisors under their control are complying with rules of supervision.

Provide input on a weekly basis at production meetings regarding:

· Morale

· Safety

· Product improvement

· Cost savings

· Weight savings

· Milestone achievement

Liaise with other trade Managers, Supervisors and any outside contract firms as required.

Ensure all timesheets are processed and allocated daily.

Ensure that company policies and procedures are understood and followed, particularly in relation to:

· Health and safety

· Quality Assurance

Provide motivation, maintain morale and minimize confrontation.

Review and recommend on pay rates in conjunction with supervisors.

Maintain succession plan.

Identify key personal and implement training programs.

Ensure working environment is conducive to worker comfort and safety.

Set and monitor time goals for all tasks.

Monitor work performance of staff and undertake assessments as required.

Enhance and encourage skill development of staff.

Monitor timekeeping and verify hours.

Encourage effective communications and flexibility within the team and gain an understanding of their

need and problems.

Provide motivation, maintain a high level of morale and minimise confrontation.

Ensure on-the-job training and instruction is provided for trainees and apprentices.

Provide feedback on performance and recruitment requirements.

Materials

Plan material requirements.

Generate requisitions for approval.

Ensure the economic use of materials and consumables to meet targets of quality and material waste

elimination.

Equipment

Control and maintain records of company equipment and machinery under his/her control.

Ensure regular maintenance of company equipment and machinery is undertaken in conjunction with

the relevant Department.

Safety

Ensure a safe working environment is maintained.

Attend to injuries of staff and follow up with the necessary paperwork.

Housekeeping

Ensure a housekeeping procedure is in place and maintained.

Quality Control

Inspect work and ensure quality is maintained during all phases of work.

Inspect and sign off all completed work.

Implement and maintain quality standards and procedures.

Ensure company policies and procedures are understood and adhered to.

Identify and record problems and initiate or recommend corrective action by means of the

Improvement Reporting System.

Production

Plan future work.

Provide input for production schedules and provide weekly updates.

Actively plan and implement production improvements.

Ensure every effort is made to reach agreed milestone dates.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

Display a good working knowledge of planning and monitoring.

Ability to work under pressure

Excellent people management skills

A good practical understanding of how ships and associated components or systems are fabricated or assembled and the ability to schedule and monitor tasks.

Extensive experience in Pipe systems, production, installation and commissioning

Extensive experience in Mechanical systems, production, installation and commissioning

Experience working on luxury super yachts in an equivalent position
