Job Description
A Lead Well Engineer within the Oil and Gas sector. You will need a degree in Engineering with an advanced degree preferred and ideally come with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the oil & gas industry with further experience working with unconventional plays Shale Gas Unconventional Gas.

A strong technical background in structural Engineering and Mechanical Engineering and the ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely is a distinct advantage.

The position will be to provide highly experienced unconventional gas well engineering and completions expertise to the companies unconventional gas activities worldwide via Asset-Support Assurance and Peer Assist/Review of their global unconventional gas business.

Advise assets on well engineering and completion elements of Unconventional Gas projects. Decide on appropriate workflows and technical approach to projects. Ensures best practices are developed and delivered.

Review the design construction and maintenance of wells to develop unconventional reservoirs in multiple basins internationally.

Involvement in Peer Assists and Assurance reviews as required alongside other members of the Well Engineering Function and the Unconventional Gas Team.

Experience of Unconventional Gas drilling and completion activities in multiple unconventional plays and basins including international outside of the United States Unconventional Gas plays is essential. In addition candidates must come with the understanding and having experience of horizontal drilling techniques hydraulic fracturing low-cost field operations safety approaches and the application of these techniques to develop Unconventional Gas reservoirs.

Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally at all levels in the organisation both in the field and with management

Fully familiar with operational and evaluation methods for alternative well drilling and stimulation including:

Vertical wells with under-reaming or hydraulic fracturing;
Vertical wells and cavitation; and
Horizontal wells with alternative completion and stimulation techniques.

Familiar with available support services - laboratories consultants research institutes etc and understanding of the market for the procurement of drilling services and surface facilities.

Sufficient geology and reservoir engineering familiarity to work productively as part of a multi-disciplinary Unconventional Gas team.
