Lead Drilling Engineer

Role and Responsibilities

You will be responsible for high level well feasibility studies, well planning, project risk analysis and cost estimates. In close cooperation with other members of the Drilling and Petroleum Engineering Department you will participate in setting goals and objectives for new wells and subsequently, through technical support to the rig operations teams, actively contribute to meeting these goals.

You are also expected to keep abreast of emerging new technologies and to bring these forth for incorporation into well designs and operations.

Furthermore, you must conduct risk assessments and cost estimating, while capturing lessons learned. You will also be responsible for ensuring knowledge sharing, application of best practices, incorporation of new technology, mentoring of Well Site and Drilling Engineers and providing consistency as well as product quality.

Qualifications

The successful candidate has good organizational, analytical and communication skills. He or She is independent, self motivated and quality consciousness, has the ability to interact with other disciplines and to motivate people - all with a sense of urgency.

The successful candidate will have an engineering degree or other higher technical background. A minimum of 8 years of experience in the industry is considered a must, and part of this should be in the capacity of Senior Drilling Engineer or the like and with substantial well planning experience. Furthermore, experience from international oil and gas companies, operating in the North Sea and/or dealing with extended reach and HPHT wells will be an advantage.
