Job Description

Our Client has a vacancy for a Lead Project Accountant, based in Aberdeen.  This is a permanent position.


Basic Functions:
To ensure the project accounting team record all accounting entries in an accurate and timely manner. This involves the provision of financial data both internally and externally to the client. The main duties include ensuring that all accounting entries are prepared accurately and in line with corporate deadlines, ensuring invoices are prepared in a timely manner and in accordance with the terms of the contract and ensuring that results are accurately reported and analysed.


Principal Responsibilities:
Supervision of the project Accounting Team.
Performing/reviewing project month end closeout ensuring all accounting entries (revenue and cost accruals) are processed in time for period close.
Calculation of project standard rates for the client Business Unit Offshore & Site Based Personnel.
Ensuring all monthly client invoices are prepared in accordance with the commercial terms of the contract.
Reporting client Business Unit financial performance to Senior Management including variance analysis, accounts receivables, accruals and unbilled analysis.
Preparation of annual plan and quarterly reforecast in conjunction with Project Management.
Calculation of monthly unbilled summary to the client, identifying items pending commercial agreement and accrual entries.
Collation of Register Summary for Facilities Modification Contract and submission to client on a monthly basis.
Responding to monthly queries raised regarding the client Business Unit Invoices.
Preparation of monthly cash flow forecasts for company Treasury Department and monitoring of project accounts receivables daily.
Liaising with external, internal and client auditors.
Linkage with Business Manager and contracts administrator regarding contractual aspects.
Execution of various ad-hoc tasks as and when requested.


Skills/Qualifications
Technical /Business Skills:
Oracle or equivalent experience would be preferred.


Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent communication skills are required. The role will involve communication with both company employees, senior management and the client.
Supervisory skills are also essential as the role will require management of a small team.


Competencies:
Competent in the use of excel.


Business/Industry Experience:
Previous relevant accounting experience is essential and oil and gas experience is preferred.
