Job Description
Our Client is looking for Lead Environmental Engineer. This is a contract position, of 12 months duration, based in Leatherhead.

Key position with an oil major for a filed development of an offshore facility in Azerbaijan.
Establish the Environmental Basis of Design for the Project in line with the applicable company standards, national and international legislation, as well as existing commitments from approved Environmental and Social Impact Assessment's (ESIA)
Ensure implementation of the COP environmental basis of design and ESIA commitments through the remaining COP design program
Identify, evaluate environmental impacts associated with the construction and operation of new facilities and implement environmental risk reduction measures
Ensure critical environmental design aspects are assessed and performance/compliance issues communicated to the engineering disciplines to influence engineering decisions
Participate in engineering reviews; including HAZOPs and HAZIDS
Leading environmental reviews (e.g. ENVID's) and ensure ENVID registers are maintained
Review appropriate P&IDs, PFDs, UFDs, specifications, vendor documentation using project engineering processes to track issues through to closure
Ensure ESIA commitments are accepted and approved by project engineering disciplines, that they are included in design, and implementation through to handover with construction teams
Responsible for the development and implementation of an environmental engineering program of work which is in line with the engineering deliverables and overall project development program
Responsible for ensuring that all the environmental engineering deliverables are issued to the relevant engineering disciplines, that feedback is received and that any key environmental issues that may potentially impact design are addressed with the relevant engineering Technical Authorities and Environmental Manager
Develop and maintain register of environmentally critical items of equipment
Quantification of air emissions, waste and aqueous discharges, bench marking against existing operational assets
Support the ESIA consultants and provide input to the ESIAs (project description and options assessed chapters). Ensure that the environmental commitments stated in the ESIA are achievable and have been verified and confirmed by the engineering teams

Qualifications and experience required:
University degree and Master's qualification in Environmental Engineering or other engineering discipline is preferred.
Masters degree in Environmental Sciences/Management would also be acceptable provided the applicant possesses adequate environmental engineering/design experience on major Oil and Gas projects.
Substantial experience with the Oil and Gas Industry.
Extensive experience in the design of major oil and gas projects, both offshore and onshore (oil and gas terminals) facilities, extensive experience in ENVID studies and environmental study development and BAT principals.
