Staff Position
Our Client a Major International Petrochem & Oil & Gas Industry Contractor has an immediate requirement for a Lead Metallurgist initially working on a Major LNG EPC Contract.
The position will require the ability to lead and where appropriate develop staff and systems as well as plan resources and manage work scope as part of a larger project team. This will involve co-ordination with other Company project office locations to maintain project cost and schedule goals.
During this phase of the project the scope will involve providing technical support to other engineering disciplines procurement and Client in the area of material selections and proposed substitutions. In addition work will include Supplier and Sub Contractor Welding Specification reviews against project specifications and Code requirements.
The Core metallurgy team supports projects which range from conceptual studies through front end design to detailed Engineering EPC contract scope in an international environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
· This role will require the ability to provide hands on metallurgical / materials engineering input to all above phases of work.
· Bachelors degree Hons or equivalent in Materials Science/ Mechanical Engineering preferably a Chartered Engineer but not essential
· Candidate should have held a senior industrial position in metallurgy or materials science.
· Experience in Petrochemicals and oil and gas industry.
· Ability to carry out corrosion assessment calculations and develop Material Selection philosophies reports and associated drawings.
· Ability to develop a full range of technical specifications for welding and alloy verification.
· Knowledge of Australian Codes and Standards would be an advantage.
