HEAD OF BUSINESS SOLUTIONS

Reports to: Information Technology and Telecommunications Manager

Whilst all applications will be considered preference will be given to candidates from Texas USA and Canada

Location: Doha Qatar

JOB PURPOSE:

To assist in managing the companys Business Solutions function; develop respective strategies in line with the departmental strategy and overall organizational objectives with an emphasis on maximizing growth revenue and profitability monitoring business applications and data integrity maintaining positive internal and external customer relations whilst safeguarding the companys information and high availability system standards.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Department Strategy Formulation

As a senior member of the Business Solutions department team contributes to the formulation and implementation of the Business Solutions department strategy and plans as appropriate the department needs and objectives.

Section Management

Supervise the day-to-day operation of the Business Solutions unit ensure that work processes are implemented as designed and comply with established standards and procedures employees are motivated understand what is expected of them and perform according to the designated standards

Business Solutions Initiatives

Propose IT solutions -compliant with the companys IT standards in order to facilitate the business to achieve its objectives.

Assist in managing IT initiatives from ideas to formal projects project pipeline management - assessment and funding approval in order to ensure alignment of the same with the companys strategy and objectives.

Assist in managing IT projects in order to ensure timeliness and budget compliance of the same

Business Solutions Procurement Process

Assist in managing the procurement of Business Solution resources from a technical aspect whilst adhering to the companys policies to ensure an uninterrupted delivery of quality goods and / or services in a cost effective manner.

Assist in managing the interpretation of the technical aspect during the procurement process with Business Solution service providers through the request for proposal developments or competition invitation documents as need be in order to remain abreast with the companys needs.

Assist in managing the search initiation of contact and short listing process of Business Solution service providers from a technical standpoint in order to gain an in-depth understanding of their respective delivery capabilities.

Assist in managing the IT service vendors involved in respective projects in order to ensure alignment of the obligations with the respective execution of the same.

Business Solutions Systems Integrity and Security

Assist in managing the Business Solutions e.g. SAP systems and data integrity in order to safeguard the companys information and ensure high availability standards are maintained.

Contribute to the planning and implementation of IT & T infrastructure as to remain abreast with the companys business needs.

Assist in managing the companys Business Solutions IT related governance risk and compliance activities so as to ensure a full compliance by the companys mandated policies & procedures.

Management Reporting & Ad-hoc Project Representation

Ensure ongoing reporting including MIS to superiors in order to keep them abreast with regard to Business Solutions process as requested.

Support on demand Business Solutions related initiatives in order to ensure various ad-hoc requirements foreseen by the company are met.

Business Solutions Service Level Agreement Mitigation

Assist in managing and following up on service level agreements with various vendors / contractors so as to ensure an effective communication and compliance with the companys respective needs.

Assist in managing outsourced Business Solution projects in order to ensure a timely completion of the project at hand according to cost time budget and quality.

People Management

Assist in ensuring that potential vacancies are appropriately occupied by potential Qatari nationals where possible so as to adhere to stipulated Qatarisation targets.

Encourage and enable employees in the Business Solutions function to emulate critical behavioural competencies in order to achieve the set objectives of the department.

Budgeting & Cost Control

Assist in managing the preparation of the Business Solutions unit budget using inputs from function heads and monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs / revenues areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.

Departmental Policies & Procedures

Contribute to the development and implementation of department policies procedures and controls covering all areas of Business Solutions department activity to ensure that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality cost-effective service to customers.

Continuous Improvement

Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of section systems processes and practices taking into account international best practice improvement of business processes cost reduction and productivity improvement.

End user satisfaction.

Ability to meet planned annual objectives.

Effective achievement of quality Qatari talent to meet Qatarisation targets.

Alignment of proposed IT solutions with the overall organizations strategy and objectives.

Individual objectives training development plans in place for all direct reports within the timescales defined by the corporate performance management process. Frequency of feedback and appraisal meetings.

PROBLEM SOLVING:

Broad Functional and Managerial Guidelines: Jobs are usually at the Division Head Level where there are no written procedures and where plans are typically made on an annual basis with a monthly or quarterly review of results. Positions in this category usually have some financial and administrative authority.

COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal:

At own level in other departments Section Heads Department Manager and Executive Management.

External:

Shareholder representatives external and internal auditor leads and vendor management.

QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification:

Bachelors in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

Masters is a plus.

Minimum Experience:

7 9 years in providing IT Business Solutions with a working knowledge in IT projects managements preferably in the Oil & Gas Sector but not a must.

Thorough hands-on expertise in implementation of standard packages as well as in in-house solutions.
