Engineer Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (AR&M)
Reports to:
Principal Engineer (AR&M), Manager, Engineering Reliability Department.
Job/Role Purpose:
To provide Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (AR&M) engineering guidance to the companies Project Programmes and participate as required, on behalf of the DMP Engineering Reliability Department.
Key Accountabilities:
• To provide AR&M engineering support Project Programmes.
• Operate as a Delegated Design Authority (DDA) for the Engineering Reliability Department.
• Identification of AR&M target specifications in support of the companies Capital and Major Projects Programme.
• Design substantiation of systems providing a safety function.
• To provide guidance to Facilities and Projects on the determination and assessment of Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) and other BS EN standards and for compliance with Nuclear Installations Inspectorate (NII) Licence Conditions.
• Continuous review of the standards used by the department.
Key Responsibilities:
• To ensure that personal responsibilities with regard to the Companys Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards are understood and applied.
• To ensure that the design intent is for all projects to achieve the required performance of Availability, Reliability and Maintainability.
• To ensure that SIL and Safety assessments are conducted to the appropriate standard.
Qualifications:
• Degree/HND in a recognised Engineering discipline.
• Chartered or actively working towards being so.
• Member of an appropriate Institution.
Knowledge:
• Assessment of safety systems in terms of reliability.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Problem solving and decision-making.
Experience:
Extensive AR&M experience gained within Nuclear, Defence, Rail, Power or
Petrochemical industries.
Skills:
Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs), Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Through Life Cost (TLC) analysis, AR & M Calculations, Probabilistic Risk Assessments.
Behaviours:
• To be able to provide interactive guidance to projects on AR&M issues.
• To be able to liaise effectively with project staff, Engineers, Contractors and Integrated Personnel.
Special Requirements:
• Minimum SC, preferably DV Security Clearance.
