Job Description
Drilling Engineer Rotating to Angola
Our Client is seeking experienced Drilling Engineers for its deepwater drilling campaign in Angola. The position will be located in their Luanda office, and will be manned on a rotational basis 28/28.
The Angolan based drilling team are responsible for the initial drilling of four deepwater exploration wells, and any further appraisal drilling will be required.
Main Duties
The work will entail require well planning and subsequent technical and operational support during the execution of the exploration and appraisal wells, in the company's Angolan licenses or in new areas yet to come.
In this position, the well planning shall include, but is not limited to, ensuring accurate pore pressure/fracture gradient analyses are performed, well design, AFE costs, tubular and wellhead design including assistance with tendering, procurement, coordinating and insuring accuracy of directional well plans, drilling fluids design, shallow hazards and completion of reports, etc.
Furthermore, ensure risk assessments and probabilistic cost estimating, along with capturing lessons learned are done. Keeping abreast of emerging new technologies and bringing them forth for incorporation into well design and operations is also a key component of this job
The wells are located in approximately 4,000 feet of water, offshore Angola. The ability to interface with exploration personnel, contractors, other operators, and government personnel will be important.
The Drilling Engineer will be reporting to the Drilling Manager in Luanda.
Experience
Ideally the successful candidate has an engineering degree or equivalent and extensive experience in the oil industry, with a substantial part of this time as a Drilling Engineer for an oil company engaged in deepwater drilling, utilizing semisubmersible rigs or drill ships. Strong preference will be given to personnel that have worked in West Africa.
Personal skills should include the ability to interact with others, motivate people, be a good team player and have good communication skills. Ability to utilize computer programs such as Compass, DIMS, Wellplan, Word, Excel, and Project is important.
