Our client is a leading provider of flow equipment products, systems and services to worldwide oil, gas and process industries. The have an exciting opportunity as a Draughtsperson to join their team in the South of Aberdeen.
Job Purpose
To develop oil tool equipment designs, either to meet specific customer requirements or the needs of the oilfield industry in general through the creation of AutoCAD or Inventor drawings and the creation or modification of technical Bills of Materials.
Job Context and Dimensions
The duties of the position include but are not necessarily restricted to the following:
The Draughtsperson will typically be given tasks by an Engineer / Senior Engineer/Engineering Supervisor. The draughtsman is typically required to create or modify Engineering drawings and Bills of Material for equipment. These drawings may include but are not limited to layout drawings, manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, stack-up drawings, sketches and schematics. The Draughtsperson shall also create or revise Bills of Materials as directed by the responsible Engineer and may also be required to raise Commercial Part Numbers. The Draughtsperson will be responsible for the electronic filing of drawings and Bills of Material.
The job holder will, take direction from the responsible Engineer in order to develop design concepts which satisfy customers needs and uphold the companys standards of functional design and quality.
The job holders technical knowledge, skill and experience must embrace the industrys accepted draughting standards and those specifications set out in API, AISI standards etc.
During the preparation of design documents and manufacturing drawings the Draughtsperson will adhere to the procedures stipulated in the Product Engineering Manual (PEM) and the Quality Assurance Manual (QAM). These may be modified in certain instances by Special Procedures(SPs) or customer Purchase Order requirements.
Before commencing work on design for customers, the job holder will ensure that he / she is fully conversant with contractual requirements relevant to that area of design and engineering responsibility.
The job holder will typically receive technical direction to ensure that their work fulfils all the requirements of the contract and of internal procedures, standards etc. The Designer/Draughtsperson will be required to check drawings and work performed by others. Before documents are released the Designer/Draughtsperson will ensure that they have been checked and that they have been subject to design review and approval.
The job holder may occasionally be called outside of normal working hours to provide draughting support on urgent matters requiring engineering advice during manufacture of field installation of equipment.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure that customer requirements are fully considered, and that designs, selections of company products, meets these requirements.
Direct or prepare drawings, information and provide the service necessary for the manufacturing group and other departments to manufacture and market the companys products.
Ensure awareness and compliance with the Company Health & Safety regulations.
Knowledge and Skills(state the minimum education, qualifications, skills and experience required to perform the role to a satisfactory level)
The job holder would ideally possess an HNC and suitable experience. The requirement for holding a formal qualification may be deviated from when justified by work experience and technical proficiency.
