Job Description

Role Purpose:

Lead the development of the company strategy and of the strategic business plan in line with the company's vision and mission and capture and monitor the Company's portfolio in line with the Company's investment parameters in order to advise on divestment and investment opportunities.

Key accountabilities:

Strategic Plans:
- Oversee the yearly consolidation of existing assets, new opportunities and future growth opportunities and inform the XLT on production and investment profiles, cash flows and risks. Advise on anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance or performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.

- Recommend the standard set of input variables for financial / economic modelling for ensuing fiscal year for various locations in line with the country / regional macro economic factors and submit it to the XLT for their approvals.


  • - Facilitate and assess the economic analysis for the assets and the opportunities included in the yearly strategic plan to ensure that consistent methodology and economic variables have been used in order to allow aggregation and comparison.

- Develop the yearly MOG-wide business plan in collaboration with all functional and regional teams which serves as a road map to achieve the strategic goals of MOG.


Portfolio Management & Risk Management

- Review, evaluate and monitor the performance of the portfolio in order to optimise the risk, return, and cash flows in line with managements expectations

- Direct the impact analysis of new target investments or divestments on the existing portfolio and provide recommendations in light of their contribution to the strategic goals, the strategy, the required cash and its timing & assess the risk associated with investment opportunities which may adversely impact the overall portfolio of MOG.

- Provide input and feedback to MDC Portfolio Management for the quarterly valuation of MOG assets


Benchmarking:

- Identify the peer group of companies and study their activities and performance in order to benchmark MOG performance.

- Recommend updates to MOG strategy based on the review of benchmark companies, industry and market trends, commodity prices and the impact on the overall strategy.


Analysis:

- Direct the analysis needed to address specific queries raised by the Senior Management team, Operations and Business Development in order to provide reliable advice and a sound basis for decision making.

Organisation Development, Organizational Due Diligence and Post Merger Integration

- Develop the Organisation Structure and capability to support the strategy and the business plans.

- Lead the organizational due diligence process on target companies and on findings of due diligence and recommend the course of action to be weighted along with other findings.

- Support post merger integration of strategic planning and portfolio management business processes and any other subsequent post merger integration issues as instructed from time to time by MOG management, to enhance overall organizational and financial effectiveness and drive cultural change. Systems & Processes:
- Manage strategic planning systems, processes and controls related to PEEP and capital planning.

MIS and Reports:
- Ensure that all Strategic Planning inputs are presented to the management teams timely.

- Custodian of all documents related to MOGs overall vision, mission, strategic goals, strategy, and yearly updated strategic plans

Budgets:
- Oversee the consolidation and recommend the Strategic Planning department budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget.

Decision Making:
- Takes decisions within the MOG delegation of authoritiesKnowledge:


Knowledge:

- A basic degree in Economics or a relevant branch of Engineering / Geosciences
preferably with a Master's degree in Economics or MBA.
- Knowledge of the Oil and Gas business especially upstream exploration and production.
- Sound awareness of the factors that affect the Oil and Gas E & P business.
- Knowledge of Portfolio Management and Risk Analysis principles


Experience:

- 10 to 12 years experience in the E & P industry including at least 6 years in a strategic function.
