Design Engineer - 3D

My client is a worldwide leader in providing major mechanical components for land and offshore drilling rigs, complete land drilling and well servicing rigs, tubular inspection and internal tubular coatings, drill string equipment, extensive lifting and handling equipment, and a broad offering of downhole drilling motors, bits and tools. We are currently seeking experienced Design Engineers to join this business in their Aberdeen office.

Responsibilities:

- To be innovative, conceive, design and develop both completely new products not already in our portfolio, as well as developing existing products adding value over and above the competition

- To produce engineering designs and associated engineering documents (such as drawings, calculations and test reports) and ensure they are completed within the required timescales

- To progress small and medium sized engineering projects, when allocated and working as part of a team on larger projects

- Project work, in addition to design, will include all aspects of the design process such as draughting and testing of products, as deemed appropriate by the line manager

- To liaise with clients and suppliers as required

For this challenging position, a Knowledge of Wireline Systems and Wellhead Pressure Control Equipment or Subsea Christmas trees and related equipment is desirable. You have an aptitude to conceive innovative new designs and justify your ideas to senior colleagues, as well as verify and validate them by calculation and testing. You are constantly striving to bring new products to market that enhance our product line as well as create market opportunities where no competition exists.

Essential:

- Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD is preferred however extensive 3D mechanical design experience is essential

Desirable:

- Wireline Systems and Wellhead Pressure Control Equipment or Subsea Christmas trees and related equipment is required

Education:

- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
