Job Description
Our client is a leading global engineering, construction and services company, they support the energy, petrochemicals, government services and civil infrastructure sectors on 6 continents.

They are now looking to fill the following staff vacancy -

Deputy Cost Manager - Corporate

Reporting to the Corporate Cost Manager, the role of the Deputy Cost Manager is to assist with the management of the Cost Control function at a corporate level and all aspects of Cost Control on allocated projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Deputy Cost Manager you will assist in providing leadership and technical direction over a team of Cost Specialists. You will be responsible for the implementation of cost control procedures and also for all cost reporting and change control on specific projects. In addition, you will be required to set up and implement trending and progress measurement processes on projects, using the Corporate Project Controls system, for which training will be given.

Specific responsibilities:

Participate in the development of the Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
Implement company standard cost procedures and project specific processes, using company cost controls systems such as PCMS (training will be given)
Review the cost and change control functions for specific projects
Direct the cost team in the definition and assignment of roles and resources to activities of work and organise the timely production of reports, as directed by the Corporate Cost Manager
Liaise closely with engineering, procurement, construction and other disciplines to provide cost and change information to project management

Assist with the execution of cost risk analysis on specific projects, using company standard risk systems and reporting the key project risks to Project Management
Attend Project Controls departmental meetings as required
Liaise with Human Resources to manage Employee Relations and Resourcing issues
Act as a point for all cost control related queries raised by Cost Control personnel
Development, management and training of the company E&C Cost Team
Interface with multiple global locations on their processes, documentation standardisation, and structure.

REQUIREMENTS
The skills required for this role will typically have been acquired through the completion of a relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent and experience of working within the Cost function of Project Controls.

Membership of a professional body such as ACE would be desirable

Key Competencies include:
Substantial cost control experience in either construction or oil & gas
Working knowledge & experience of cost systems
Previous experience of successfully leading and managing a team of cost control specialists
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good organizational skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects at any given time
Good presentation skills
Commitment to a career in project controls and the pursuit of excellence
