Data Analyst - Drilling SSH&E job in USA
Work Description:
Perform statistical analysis and trending of safety, security, health and environmental data in support of global Drilling operations.
Objective:
Data Analyst - Drilling SSH&E is a key enabling position for the global Drilling organization. The position will provide statistical rigor to the trending of incident data by ensuring appropriate decisions can be made on the basis of objective proof and statistical significance. The analysis of data to obtain value-added trends is critical in the support of our vision to achieve an injury and illness-free workplace.
Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:
- Work with collected incident data to identify potential emerging threats and value-added trends.
- Apply statistical methods to impute missing data or analyze trends for statistical relevance.
- Develop reports, briefing papers, memos, and presentations associated with assigned duties.
- Make formal and informal presentations concerning data, methods, and findings.
- Select the statistical methods for modeling or estimate generation and perform diagnostic testing to identify outliers and to assess departures from distributional assumptions.
- Provide global Drilling support through enhancement of tools, alerts, process improvements.
- Interface with other internal Company Business Units to enhance beneficial sharing of tools, alerts, lessons learned.
- Support Drill Team and Senior Drilling Leadership.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned or perform other duties when necessary.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Mathematics or Statistics degree
- Masters preferred, or Bachelors considered with 3 years relevant business analysis and reporting experience
Position Requirements:
- Good Written and Oral Communication Skills are essential.
- Strong statistical knowledge and ability to formulate statistically defensible positions.
- Working knowledge in statistical analysis software, statistical modeling, and MS Office applications.
- Capable of performing statistical analyses and assisting in interpretation and presentation of results.
- Data Management skills; manage databases, analyze data and create reports.
- Must have practical, hands-on approach, proven ability to work well with non-statisticians and proven ability to use statistics to improve real life processes; ability to work in a team environment.
- Must be organized and detail oriented; must have strong work ethic and desire to excel.
- Creativity, problem-solving skills, and strong analytical skills required.
- Self-starter who is not content with the status quo, consistently looking for a better way to improve upon Company Drilling's SSH&E tools and processes.
- Must be adaptable to changes in strategic work focus.
