Contracts Manager - 2869 job in Spain
Please note: This is a permanent staff position based in Madrid that requires long-term commitment to living in Spain and also the willingness to take on lengthy overseas secondments, most likely to be in the Middle East (Saudi Arabia or UAE)
This company is an international general contractor, engaging in the engineering, design and construction of various types of industrial facilities for a broad spectrum of customers throughout the world, including many of the principal national oil companies and several multinational companies.
They are the leader for engineering and construction in the oil and gas sector in Spain, one of the leaders in Europe in the design and construction of oil and gas facilities and one of the world leaders in the refining sector.
Candidates should have good experience in the petrochemical or oil & gas sectors (downstream) and be fully familiar with operating in an EPC environment at both pre and post-contract stages.
Requirements:
- Experience in EPC LSTK projects in Petrochemical complexes and/or Refineries
- Open minded about Home Office in Madrid and about Saudi or Middle East locations just in case (the majority of the projects are in this area).
- Saudi ARAMCO experience very valuable, mainly working within a contractor organisation on projects for ARAMCO.
- Spanish Language skills very valuable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manages the contracts function for a project from inception through completion. Functional scope includes development of the project contracts strategy, administration of the prime contract, subcontract administration, and change orders. Ensures that company fulfils all obligations associated with the terms & conditions of the contracts
· Typically assigned to high risk, fixed price contracts or projects of considerable technical and commercial complexity, reports to the Project Manager.
· Provide prime/(sub) contract change order (and claim) support to project team to prepare and negotiate change orders and/or claims as required. Report performance data to the Corporate Contracts function for use in improving contract tools, upgrading the skills of Contracts personnel and improving workshops
· Provide contracts training and reviews/audits to project(s) to identify potential contracts problems and process improvement opportunities. Assist in the development and implementation of systems and resources necessary to fulfil prime contract and (sub) contract management functions.
JOB RELATED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
· Broad knowledge of contracts management and claims.
· Extensive experience and knowledge of commercial management functions and work experience of a progressively responsible nature.
· Extensive knowledge of Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls and Construction work processes.
· Degree in Business, Quantity Surveying, Law, Engineering, Construction management or Cost Engineering desirable.
