Description:
The Data Specialist will be an active member of the Contractor Management Team, whose primary responsibility is to oversee, manage and coordinate the Refinery's Contractor groups. The Data Specialist will establish and maintain definitive cost tracking systems for the Contractor Management Team relating to estimates, budgets, contractor invoices, payment schedules, management reports, forecasting, and documentation for internal and external audits. The Data Specialist reports to the Contractor Management Team and will assist the Contractor Management Team in developing, understanding and managing owner's cost; ensuring that cost related information including contractor overall performance metrics and deviations from budget are communicated.
Responsibilities:
- Set up cost reporting systems for budget management and forecasting related to contractor spending.
- Perform period cost reports.
- Provide performance reports and make recommendations to improve processes.
- Building and formatting Excel spreadsheets, manipulating data between Excel and SAP.
- Set up and track /monitor metrics associated with Construction Group deliverables.
- Monitor/track FTE headcount daily.
- Assure accuracy and timeliness of data collection for cost measurement.
- Audit performance of contractor's Controls Specialist and other cost personnel.
- Interface with the Contractor's Cost specialists to ensure that cost data is accurately charged and correctly classified (e.g. Routine Maintenance, Capital, TA, etc.) and that necessary approvals are obtained.
- Work with all areas of the Refinery to provide Cost Center Data support in relation to Contractor costs.
- Devise, develop, and deploy required data queries in response to business user needs.
- Work with application development staff to coordinate the creation and management of data queries.
- Coordinating and facilitating monthly accounting closing activities related to contractor expenses and commitments.
- Help develop and track Planning and Scheduling metrics for the Contractor Management Team.
Basic/Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular, full-time basis without restrictions
- Minimum of five years of CMMS data mining is required;
- Attention to detail with strong accounting, and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to work independently and balance multiple priorities;
- Ability to organize work and complete required tasks in a given time frame;
- Team Player;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Extensive SAP experience required;
- Develop SAP Queries;
- Proficient with MS Office products: Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint.
- Ability to develop reports and presentations
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Business Administration- at least two years of Accounting experience
- Experience in preparing budget reports for assigned departmental budgets and contractor cost managing activities.
- Experience in preparing monthly and year-end review analysis along with trend charts of data collected.
