Commercial Manager Mining

Location: West Africa

Our Client is an international mineral exploration and development company with significant iron ore and base metal interests in Africa.

They are currently seeking a Commercial Manager to plays a crucial role in providing contracts management financial management and business analytical services project relating to a major iron ore mining project in West Africa.

Accounting Superintendant Supply Superintendant and IT Superintendant

Primary Purpose

The position of Commercial Manager plays a crucial role in providing contracts management financial management and business analytical services to the project site including management of the Accounting Supply and Information Technology sub departments of the project site while ensuring that all associated functions are carried out in accordance with the group policies and procedures.

The Commercial Manager will also be required to liaise with the VP Finance SL on country related matters and take directions from the Corporate Office UK on finance and accounting issues.

When required the Commercial Manager is expected to act as a backup for the Superintendants reporting directly through to the position essentially ensuring 24/7 coverage for the site in key commercial positions.

· Develop implement and review a Contracts Register contracts to support contract initiation negotiation and administration of contracts. Conduct periodical contractor review of all contracts in place.

· Providing strategic and operational support through detailed modeling and analysis to facilitate capital expenditure project feasibility valuations planning and strategy.

· Champion the introduction of the PRONTO ERP software and ensure that a detailed training and development program is established which leads to successful user acceptance and operations of the software for present and future use.

· Produce a monthly financial and management report for SL.

Supporting and managing commercial activity including contract management and organisational legal compliance and regulatory requirements.

Compliance Management

To oversee and maintain the integrity of all financial transactions of the business. Responsibilities include ensuring but are not limited to:

· Maintaining and enforcing all company financial rules regulations and procedures for the locations.

· Contribute to and develop policies and procedures to govern finance and accounting specific functions.

Preparation of IFRS based financial & management accounts and schedules for the site.

Education & Experience

· It is essential that the incumbent be degree qualified with 10 years relevant experience. A strong supervisory background and high degree of computer literacy are key elements to the role. The position assumes a strong accounting background supplemented with academic and practical skills in supply chain management and information technology associated with excellent verbal and written communication skills. The incumbent must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision and is expected to display strong leadership at all times.

· Must have PRONTO ERP System Experience

Experience in a cross-cultural environment preferably a developing country.

Ideally a Commercial professional who has worked in remote locations Mining Preferred.
