CATERING SUPERVISOR

Reports to: General Services Manager

Location: Qatar

Start Date: ASAP

Basic Function and Scope:

Develop plan and supervise all aspects of Catering activities for Onshore and offshore facilities as well as assigned administrative support functions with emphasis on planning implementation and development of innovative policies and procedures to ensure effective Catering Services and section stability including supervision of Catering Assistant and the Catering Contractors Staff.

Tasks and Duties:

Develop implement administer and maintain Catering Sections quality standards for food production and preparations presentation service and customer interaction cleanliness and sanitation safety and environmental awareness and Catering Contractors staff hygiene in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Plan organize and administer the Catering Contract including supervision of Contractors personnel.

Recommend and develop office systems to track meal numbers and types of services performed; analyze trends and potential for improvement.

Develop and review annual operating budget and capital needs for the execution of the Catering Contract and Maintenance; coordinate and review Catering budget with General Services Manager for approval and inline with department objectives.

Work closely with the Contractors head Chef to plan and coordinate details of catering events to include determining manpower levels recommending personal assignments and communicating menu requirements and selections.

Maintain liaison with important users such as Public relation executives managers and staff; work closely with users to ascertain desired services; follow up to ensure the quality of food and services are provided as requested.

Plan menus and portion specification to satisfy nutritional needs; monitor the quality of food and supplied goods to ensure adherence to the Catering Contract specs.

Plan schedule and supervise the work of assigned areas to ensure proper distribution of assignments adequate manning and work flow for performance of duties and prompt and efficient preparation of foods to meet menu requirements and company needs.

Conducts special investigations into complaints about the quality of food or services and reports findings and recommendation to contractor for corrective action.

Ensures the provision of qualified and healthy Company and contractor personnel to catering services. Includes reviewing qualifications of proposed cooks supervisors and key personnel to recommend acceptance as appropriate and ensuring the periodic medical testing of food handlers and subsequent review by the Company of attendant certificates of health.

Participates at the required level in the ongoing development and training of the Departments Qatari employees.

Carries out other similar or related duties such as reviewing invoices authorizing contract payments arranging for special events and recreational activities and preparing activity or special reports and studies as assigned.

Responsible for the support of Company Safety Environment and Quality policies and programs and carrying out specific duties and responsibilities related to his job as spelled out in Management system documentation policies procedures local documentation Management System Manual Safety Manual and other related documents.

Work Contacts:

Frequent contacts at own level and next highest level in own department; and with other departments for coordination for work and services. Regular contacts with representatives of contractors for direction of services and monitoring performance.

Independence of Operation:

Specify work method from alternative existing methods in accordance with established companys policies and procedures. Completed assignments are subject to subsequent review.

Operates within a well structured environment with a clear reporting framework through to the General Services Manager and a clearly defined job role and accountabilities.

All subordinates have clear goals and objectives and clearly defined functional job roles. Supervise an administrative service providing the catering function for Ras Laffan and Offshore.

Has a degree of freedom and flexibility in the execution of the function in order to facilitate decision making. Work accomplished is subject to general review by his Manager.

Problem Solving & Job Complexity:

Key challenge is motivating staff and developing teamwork within a very culturally diverse workforce.

Needs to be strongly customer service oriented and apply good planning and delivery skills.

Minimum Requirements:

Work requires communications organizational and food production management skills

Bachelors Degree in Food Management Business Administration or related fields.

6 years experience in food service field with minimum of 4 years in a supervisory position.

Excellent written and spoken English.
