Barge Captain / Skipper - Mexiflote Barge

Location : West Afrcia

Salary $ negotiable

We are currently recruiting for a Barge Captain/Skipper to become a valid member of one of the Largest Iron Ore Mining Project in West Africa.

By the West African port authority law, it will be operated in international waters and that means it will need to have a qualified Captain/skipper to operate the barge around Africa

· The captain will have to be present when we put the barge together in either Freetown or Pepel.

· The captain/skipper will build this barge and put at least 3 deck hands on the barge when it is working to help with the ropes and anchoring and steering.

· The barge is roll on roll off with ramps, 38 metres long and 10 metres wide and has 2 engines.

· There is no cabin and all work and skippering will be done off the flat deck.

· The barge will mainly be operating at Pepel moving equipment from the shore to the shiploader, but it will do the occassional trip across to Freetown which is about 20 km over the ocean.

· The captain/skipper has to be competent in operating such a vessel in strong currents around the shiploader jetty of up to 15 knots at times.

· Africa experience would be ideal.
