Job Description

I am recruiting for a Technical Authority Instrumentation & Controls position in Aberdeen on a staff basis with an ambitious mid-size operator.

This role will be embedded within the Technical Team and will be the subject expert across other technical departments. You will be involved in a range of workscopes from the initial conceptual engineering through to consultation on projects and modifications on operated assets and verification of our duty holder compliance.
You will be experienced in design, project execution and operations work such that you can demonstrate a suitable in depth knowledge for the role.

Participating in concept design and selection studies for developments and projects. Managing support contractors or internal employees in the delivery of discipline specific studies and reviews Assisting in evaluation of potential acquisitions and new ventures Supporting the development engineers in the preparation of FDP’s, Decision Gate reviews and board papers Supporting the Asset teams in the provision of advice in enhancing operating practice Problem Solving & Analysis and decicion making (Within own recognised boundaries) Business Process Awareness (SMS/MOC/Document Control/ Maintenance/Work Control/Procurement) Understand regulatory and legislative requirements (SCR, DCR, PFEER etc and discipline specfic) Point of contact for day to day technical queries, providing access to specialist engineering advice. Ensuring best practice and learning is transferred in and out of the organisation Ensure an operating and maintenance regime, which is appropriate to the levels of risk, is in place which enables equipment performance to be maintained and measured against agreed targets including approval of Planned Maintenance Routine (PMR) content and schedule amendments. Be responsible for amendments and the accuracy of information held in documents within the controlled document system. Provide operability and reliability judgements on existing equipment. Technical endorsement of modification proposals

Experience as technical authority within a production organisation preferred
Essential: Experience of a client/operator environment and knowledge of the safety, environmental and operational aspects of their work Knowledge and experience of instrument design codes and standards. Knowledge and experience of Performance Standards and SCE maintenance Knowledge and experience of project implementation methodology and decision making processes. Safety/environmental awareness - understanding of legislative requirements Demonstrable industry experience working to an advanced level of technical competence in the design, specification, operation and maintenance of distributed control and safeguarding systems, metering systems, gas turbine control systems, vendor packages, high integrity protection systems (HIPPS), fire and gas protection systems, small bore tubing systems and process measurement instrumentation. Experience of maintenance management systems.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential: Degree Qualified Chartered Engineer
Desirable: Professional Membership of relevant institute (IET, InstMC) MIST and RGIT BOSIET Training
