Our client is a global engineering manufacturer of subsea devices and drilling products for the oil and gas industry. The position, HyMech Controls Proposal Engineer plays a key role within the Services Engineering ITO (Inquiry to Order) organization with responsibility for supporting business development through product sales. The role of the HyMech Controls Proposal Engineer is to provide the technical input into tenders/quotes in support to all Production Control System (PCS) product lines and assist in optimising the operation and maintenance programs to develop solutions for our customers
Essential Responsibilities - Provide front end engineering support for the service of installed Production Control System (PCS) equipment and provide options for customers on refurbishment/repair of products.
- Liaises with Commercial Operations, Product and Sales functions during the pursuit and bid phases of a tender.
- Ensures compliance with Company Policies and Procedures.
- Minimizes risk to Health, Safety and Environmental impact as a result of the design, manufacture and operation of equipment.
- Establishes customer and market requirements.
- Optimize the selection of products to minimise the impact on our supply chain and manufacturing process to enable profitable execution.
- Provide accurate and validated Technical Proposals and an understanding of commercial impact.
- Confidence and ability to directly negotiate alternative solutions with internal and external customers and can quickly analyse the commercial consequences of making such decisions.
- Presents solutions in a form capable of ready interpretation by Internal and External customers at tender pursuit and execution phases
- Prepare and update technical qualification and risk registers
- Ensures sub-contract technical risk is managed in line with Procedures
- Collates and prepares preliminary and full Master Equipment Lists
- Build effective relationships with customers
- Support the rest of the ITO team with Proposal engineering tasks and understanding such that the GE solution is competitive and preferred by the client.
- Review/disposition survey reports.
- Establish repair practices and engineering repair workscopes.
- Adhere to and meet Engineering work schedules.
- Provide field support as required.
- Ensure all work is conducted to the “Spirit and the Letter” and in an environmentally and safe manner.
This role can be based in either Aberdeen or Montrose.
Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Strong working knowledge of direct and in-direct hydraulic control systems.
- Fully proficient with ePIMS database
- Basic knowledge of materials, welding and heat treatment.
- Familiarity with industry standards and design codes.
- Knowledge of Engineering design theory and manufacturing techniques.
- Have a working knowledge of systems, procedures and other departments within the company.
- Product Design experience in Oilfield Drilling and/or Production Equipment
- Good understanding of internal sales and commercial functions within an organization
- Proven track record of achievement in previous roles
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Good time management skills in meeting internal and external deadlines
- Ability to travel if required to meet customer needs
- Work with project execution team on a regular basis to assist in improvement of processes.
Desired Characteristics Knowledge and experience pertaining to the following would be advantageous: - Strong PCS product line knowledge.
- Experience in hydro-mechanical product design.
- Knowledge of service maintenance procedures & processes
- Solid Oil & Gas industry knowledge.
