82667 - Senior Building Services/HVAC Design Engineer

Our client is a centre of scientific and technological excellence, with some of the most advanced research, design and production facilities in the world.

They are currently recruiting for the position of Senior Building Services/HVAC Design Engineer, based in Reading.

Job Description

• Carry out BS & HVAC engineering support and advice as requested
• Undertake BS & HVAC design tasks and provide support to Engineering Managers and deliver appropriate designs to agreed time, cost and quality requirements
• Contribute to the delivery of work packages and design solutions that fully comply with ESH, all applicable current and foreseeable forthcoming Legislation, British Standards and company Design Standards
• Ensure adequate design/quality in the following BS & HVAC areas: - Concept Design, Optioneering, Detailed Design, Manufacture, Process Integration
• Ensure RLI of quality of Nuclear Ventilation and Building Services engineering and compliance with the project process and procedures
• Ensure the preparation and review of design solutions, which fully comply with all applicable current Legislation, British Standards and company Design Standards to agreed time, cost and quality requirements
• Ensure compliance, in all activities undertaken, with Company ESH requirements
• Provide advice and answer Technical Queries on matters relating to appointed discipline
• Review and originate documentation
• Use and communicate best practice in appointed discipline projects and services
• Maintain effective working relationships with others
• Contribute to integrated safety when producing engineering designs

Skills & Experience

• Degree (BSc, BEng) or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related discipline
• Chartered Engineer
• Full member of an appropriate Institute
• Relevant Statutory Instruments e.g. CDM Regulations
• Relevant national and international design codes and standards
• Design, construction, installation, commissioning and maintenance practices/requirements in the context of Regulatory scrutiny on a nuclear site
• Relevant experience in the design, installation, commissioning and use of HVAC and Building Services
• Experience of design, installation and use of nuclear ventilation systems welcomed
• Flexibility, good work ethic, ability to work on several tasks simultaneously
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Positive attitude toward challenging timelines
• Good oral, written and presentational skills
• Team working, problem solving, creative thinking and decision making
• Ability to work without supervision
• Effective use of communication skills
• Commitment to Code of Professional Conduct
• Fit and able to work within a radiological environment
• Capable of achieving full DVA clearance

This is a contract position.

The rate for this position is negotiable.
