Environmental Advisor job in UK
Our client is a global drilling company and they are currently recruiting for an Environmental Advisor on a staff basis to join their Aberdeen team.
REPORTS TO: Snr HSE Advisor
LOCATION: North Sea Division (NRS)
BASIC FUNCTION: To assist and support the Division and Company with environmental matters including the environmental policy, development of strategic Division environmental plans & goals and environmental training requirements. Support the Company Environmental Management System and its use within the Division. Assist in environmental incident investigation, environmental incident tracking and environmental projects. Assist and support other Division Environmental Advisors and Corporate Environmental Manager. Represent the Division in relevant industry forums.
Responsibilities:
1. Assisting and supporting the Division with environmental issues. Duties include:
• Monitoring of environmental performance metrics.
• Reviewing environmental benchmarks to assist in driving performance improvements.
• Review and revise Divisional environmental policies and requirements.
• Customer and regulator liaison.
• Monitor environmental legislative / regulatory requirements and communicate changes and proposed changes to Divisional management.
• Review and maintain Country Environmental Guidance Documents.
• Review and maintain Division Legal Registers.
• Assist rigs maintain Aspect & Impacts registers
• Perform environmental audits, studies and surveys as requested.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of environmental training.
• Review company waste, emissions and loss of containment data within the Global Management System and prepare quarterly and year end reports.
• Assist in the analysis of company waste, emissions and loss of containment data for trends, best management practices and continuous improvement.
• Manage special environmental projects and third party consultants when required.
• Assist Division and Company Project teams prepare environmental plans for shipyards
2. Support and contribute to Division environmental and QHSE goals. Assist and support in monitoring the progress of Division environmental and QHSE goals.
3. Support and assist auditing/ inspection of installations and facilities for compliance with EMS policy and requirements, local regulatory and ISO 14001 compliance.
4. Support and assist in general QHSE duties including:
• Participation in Risk Assessments – THINK.
• Participating in START Observation and Monitoring.
• Incident investigation and Analysis including TOP SET.
• Development and distribution of Divisional HSE Alerts.
• Perform safety studies and surveys as requested.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employee will be required to interact with regulatory bodies, industry groups and customers. Employee is required to think through and problem solve in a logical manner. Employee must be able to look beyond their personal views to resolve and provide the most optimum solutions to problem situations.
EDUCATION: Degree in environmental studies, environmental engineering, or other related environmental disciplines is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience (oil and gas industry preferred) but not essential.
SKILLS:
• Proficient in written and spoken communications.
• Effective planning and problem solving skills.
• Computer literate in common software applications.
• Ability to represent departmental interests in internal and external forums.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Flexibility and ability to travel offshore within the Division and internationally for some periods if required.
BUDGETS: Responsible for assisting the Divisional QHSE Manager with the development, review and control of the departmental budget. Responsible for the timely submission and accurate documentation of work related expenses.
