Role Summary/Purpose
- As an Engineer you will work within the Engineering Department, reporting directly to the Engineering Team Lead, associated with Subsea Production Systems - Tree activities.
Provide engineering support to the Lead Engineers and Senior Engineer responsible for Projects run within the Glasgow Office. Within this role there is a need to interface and manage cross functional boundaries with other COEs, Project Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Quality.
Essential Responsibilities
- Interpret and understand Customer Specifications/Requirements.
- Act on these specifications by producing Scope of Work and disseminate technical information to the Team.
- Liaising closely with customer on technical and project issues.
- Develop conceptual design requirements for customer.
- Ensuring designs meet specifications ISO API etc.
- Assist in obtaining customer approval of design specifications.
- Assist in identifying and ensuring equipment is designed in accordance with current Environmental, Health & Safety legislation/regulations.
- Generate all relevant design documents 18.04, 18.02, 18.12, 18.14, FMECA.
- Identify improvements in existing products, procedure and processes and develop cost effective solutions to satisfy specifications.
- Develop design specifications for interpretation by other engineers and designers.
- Identify, assess, mitigate and monitor Technical Risks in connection with the Project.
- Ensure implementation of Lessons Learned from previous projects including installation and operational experiences.
- Assist in the generation of the project Engineering plan.
- Participate and take active part in design reviews including materials and environmental reviews.
- Review with Supply Chain the material requirements for the assigned activities and ensure well defined.
- Check drawings and calculations undertaken by others in support of design.
- Liaise with other COEs to ensure designs interface with each other to minimise risk of potential clashes/problems.
- Subcontract and manage (if necessary) discrete engineering packages such as analysis.
- Prepare, review and approve preliminary and final Bill of Materials in ePIMS.
- Review and release documents in ePIMS.
- Carry out revisions on parts and documents in ePIMS following current RPP.
- Ensure all engineering activities and documents are correctly achieved in ePIMS.
- Undertake design verification, which may include but not limited to: risk analysis, failure analysis, calculations to establish a full Design Verification Package (DVP). Ensure DVP has third party or independent review.
- Prepare Assembly and test procedures and document results.
- Preparation of reports to support testing and inspection.
- Liaise with Manufacturing to ensure designs are suitable and allow for efficient manufacture.
- Provide support to manufacturing through supporting GRA response within 24 hours.
- Prepare Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures, prototype test procedures and document results.
- Assist with FAT and prepare final reports.
- Monitor for engineering scope change during the project and bring to the attention of management.
- Provide information/updates to the Senior Management, Engineering Team Lead, Senior Engineer or Lead Engineer for weekly and monthly reports.
- Provide novel ways of saving money and raising the appropriate workflow.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Provide Field Support if required.
- Assist other Engineers and Managers as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Proven experience in an Engineering function.
- Sound analytical and problem solving skills
- Team player with good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive, takes initiative to resolve upcoming issues and develop working processes.
