Orion Group is a global supplier of contract, temporary and permanent personnel who specialise in the Oil & Gas, mining and engineering industries.

Our client is currently seeking a Senior Drilling Engineer to join an engineering team supporting the planning and execution of offshore exploration and development wells. An exploration drilling campaign is planned to begin early in 2012 and continue for approximately 2 years utilizing a semi submersible drilling rig. A development drilling program consisting of subsea wells is anticipated to begin in 2014.

Key accountabilities include:

• Provide HSE leadership in engineering designs and support drilling operations in achieving HSE targets.
• Responsible for engineering, planning and permitting aspects of all drilling related operations and complying with all ConocoPhillips policies and processes.
• Preparing accurate cost estimates, budgets and AFE’s.
• Interfacing with the HSE Department and provide necessary input for the preparation of regulatory / permitting documents. Preparing Applications to Drill and other government permits as required.

Key requirements include:

• Engineering degree required.
• A minimum of 10 years experience in drilling operations/engineering
• Experience with floating drilling operations is required.
• Experience planning, developing operational procedures and executing the drilling of high pressure and high temperature wells
• Must be able to pass and maintain offshore medical and safety training requirements as well as subsea supervisor level well control certification
