Our client, a provider of systems and services to worldwide oil, gas and process industries , is currently looking for a Cost Accountant to operate in their PCS Process and Compression Systems Division in Calgary, AB. The successful candidates main accountabilities will include; analyzing work-in-process to ensure timely closure as well as proper cost recognition, maintaining accuracy of purchase orders and noting any errors to purchasing divisions, analyzing production variances and reporting corrective action to Managers, and distributing the necessary reports required to monitor overhead, direct labour, indirect labour and operating expenses

• Analyze PPV for accuracy, if errors are found in PO's or costs of purchased materials - recommendations are submitted to purchasing division
• Assist as required in the proper coding of transactions so as to properly account for plant costs
• Analyze production variances for correctness and advise appropriate managers for corrective action
• Plant specific ICAD testing including: Cost/Variances, Inventory Cycle Counts, COV and PPV
• Reporting of results to controllers, etc
• Distribution/monitoring of reports for overhead, direct/indirect labour and operating expenses
• Analyzing WIP to ensure proper cost recognition and closure of accounts

Background profile

• Minimum 3 yrs experience in accounting functions, preferably in a manufacturing operation.
• A degree or diploma in accounting or finance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP required.
• Time and priority management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in teams.
